Ernst & Young distributed a letter to all of BP’s 38,000 U.S. workers informing them that their personal details including Social Security numbers were compromised due to a laptop that was recently stolen. Unfortunatly, Ernst & Young has had a bad record with keeping their customers’ personal data safe with a similar case that occured in January with information compromised from employees of Sun, IBM and Cisco. An additional four laptops were stolen in Miami however the company has not released any information regarding how many other clients data may have been compromised.
